Jamais Vu Nothing Makes Sense

Trump is more unpopular than ever and growing increasingly desperate. His policies have flopped, and the public disapproves of his agenda. And how could they not? Rising prices, an already sluggish economy slows, and people's hopes for their futures dimming. All the while Trump is still covering up the Epstein files, and the Iran War teeters on the brink of total catastrophe, even as we or rather Pete Hegseth fires our top generals. As the would-be king Trump becomes increasingly hemmed in both on with domestic and foreign quagmires of his own making, his desperation will grow. Trump may be losing his mind, but he knows the things are going badly. He's even started firing top staff like Bondi and Noem.

With over 30 special elections having flipped red to blue across the country and dozens of Republicans deciding to not ​seek re-election it seems clear that the political walls are closing in with it perhaps some hope of accountability. (Assuming we can get some new Democratic leadership in the halls of power.) Is there anything Trump won’t do to avoid accountability?

Trump's normal attempts at distraction and ​deflection can't extricate him from the disaster he started in Iran, and his bad faith tactics has poisoned the well for productive negotiation. We have already seen a change in geopolitical power coming from America losing this war: Iran now has effective veto power over 20% the globe’s oil supply. America’s loss of power, prestige, and treasure, has been so precipitous, it seems hard to image Trump’s ego accepting his mistake and walking away.

So, we find ourselves on a knife’s edge, with Trump repeatedly threatening to commit, and then delaying war crimes. No way to back down, but no “good” options for escalation, how long he can Kick the Can with Iran remains to be seen but this is not a stable State of Affairs. As Trump apparently considers options from special operations, to invasions, the recent rescue mission of the downed F-15 pilots should be a wake-up call that any further escalation will be more costly than we think. Instead, Trump will likely view it as another Venezuela moment.

As Trump promises to commit war crimes where are the Democrats? How our elected officials act now says everything about the type of leader they will be if elected in November. Democrats should be calling for the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, and should be promising to impeach and convict the President if they take back Congress. These calls need to be made loudly and vociferously. We cannot allow one insane demented individual to hold the world hostage and potentially destroy millions of lives in an illegal war of aggression.

This is a war the American people do not want. It is a war that we can stop. Congress must vote on a War Powers Resolution to stop funding this illegal war. And we must hold all those who started this conflict accountable, no matter how long it takes to get justice. We cannot sleep walk our way into further violence and fascism. The alarms are sounding. We have to stop further escalation, avoiding boots on the ground or nukes in the air. So, join us each Tuesday in growing solidarity as we pursue a prosperous and representative government for all through the path of peace, democracy, and economic solidarity, not the violent, insane, barbarism of our so-called leaders.
