You/We/No One is Safe
You might think we’re talking about climate collapse, killer weather, mass shootings, ICE or virtually no oversight on the food we eat, but in this case we’re referring being "the other." The scapegoat that people in power use to divert from their corruption, cruelty and incompetence. Even billionaires have been executed in China. Of course #DSOT, like almost half of America, opposes the death penalty. Opposition to this has increased sharply in the past 30 years but thank you to GOP voters for mostly still being in favor of this extreme and flawed punishment.
The point being is that money cannot save You. Of course, now, in America no matter what heinous crime someone has committed, bribing Trump makes all legal and financial consequences disappear. You can even have been part of a seditious riot. Stay away from the reflecting pond and seashells, though, you probably won't go to prison but there will be an expensive legal process.
Trump won't be president forever. I know the Constitution is not in style presently, but everyone shuffles off this mortal coil. Eventually. And who knows what the new set of rules will be. Right now the focus is on immigrants. People with darker skin. Oh and more than half the adult population. Trump has called Democrats terrorists.
And the threat could be sudden and frankly crazy. You are sitting in your nice home in Greenland eating Stjerneskud, Frikadeller and a warm Danish when you learn that the US has invaded. Ask folks in Venezuela what that is like. Probably not too many people will get killed. Just a few. Small potatoes according to Trump. Uh your country has a lot of oil...
So, what happens next here? Well, the poor and the sick are considered expendable. Why else would the GOP throw millions of people off of Medicaid and slash school lunch programs? What if you are disabled in any way and poor? Famous last name- you become Secretary of HHS. Otherwise, this administration is trying to deny in-home healthcare to those on Medicaid forcing them into nursing homes. Of course this countermands a longstanding federal policy and Supreme Court decision, but how much is that worth these days?
Older folks- unless you can somehow get elected president, this affects you too. Sounds like there are governors in red states, along with nursing homeowners and federal officials who stand to gain from this.
Ok, now it is getting worrisome for You, an American citizen. Some company is dumping poison near your house. An AI data center is slated to be built just a mile away. Wait a minute. I was born here. First of all, it doesn't matter. And this destruction is happening everywhere including our national parks. Secondly were your parents immigrants? According to some in power, that makes you a lesser citizen, something this ridiculous SC might make official.
Or, Trump could change the name of your town to: We dump anything here.
If you are Muslim, you already know hate and prejudice. Asians, regardless of your country of origin, it was very scary for you during Covid. Like it was for the Japanese people during and after WWII. But a warning to anyone remotely foreign looking: Another catastrophic pandemic is certainly coming, especially when this administration has eliminated everything needed to prevent and then help. And we can only guess as to the excuses and conspiracy theories.
LGBTQ community, you all are a perennial target for these bigots. “Wait, gas and food prices are out of control? Look, there is a gay man! A trans person!” OK. But groceries remain unaffordable. Try this. When checking out at the supermarket just insult someone.or Say: this country needs a ballroom. Trump is the greatest president ever. Men playing girls' sports.That didn't lower prices?
Who's next? Catholics? Mormons. Maybe all women. After all, Pete Hegseth's pastor thinks they should not be allowed to vote. And it is clear that too many elected officials don't care about women's health. Even those who aren't poor. Children. If you are hungry, get a job.
People trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Be careful with anything grown or imported here. Basically there is very limited FDA oversight. Something is being recalled all the time. Take that kale and blueberries. And don't jog near any infrastructure that is crumbling. We can't afford to fix anything, we are spending a billion dollars a day on a losing, immoral war.
If we can even believe the numbers being reported.
A safe bet to divert from dying fascistic regimes is the old standby: Jews. To support Israel is not supporting Jewish people. Do not conflate this religion and culture with the genocide committed by Israel. A lot of support for Israel's leadership and policies comes from Christian Zionists who want Jews to return to Israel to be killed in their Holy land. As well as people who hate or simply don't care about Palestinians. Also politicians bought by AIPAC etc. who try to promote/excuse any and all aspects of the war crimes.
Think it can’t happen here? This August a couple offering a loving and stable home to a special needs boy in Tennessee sued and overturned a court decision barring them from doing so. The reason they were initially denied- they are Jewish.
