GOP Plots To Steal Georgia Elections By Hijacking Key Office

Republicans are trying to take control of elections in Georgia.

Republicans in Georgia are plotting to subvert elections in the key state by taking control of the Fulton County voting process. Over 1 million Georgians live there, where Atlanta is located. Fulton County is key because it is the hub of Democratic votes in Georgia. By controlling Fulton, Republicans could throw out Democratic votes and throw the election to their party. “According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Republican lawmakers’ efforts, which stem from former President Donald Trump’s claims of unfounded voter fraud, to hijack elections have progressed at an accelerated pace. The publication reports that the state’s new voting laws have also given them the ability to not only overhaul procedures but to also replace election officials following a performance review, likely one that will evaluate their handling of Trump’s election loss,” reports Alternet. The election laws passed in the state earlier in the year, derided by critics as “Jim Crow 2.0,” give the GOP-dominated government the power to take over county boards even if the election process went smoothly.

President Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020, becoming the first Democrat to do so in years in a major blow to the Republican Party, who once had an iron grip on the state.
