#DSOT is a rapidly growing coalition of people from all over the country fighting for a wide array of cogent policies and needed legislation. The goal is to create massive economic heft for leverage to generate change that most folks want. Use that power to go toe-to-toe with the rich folks currently making policy, and unpopular policy at that!
Yes there are those who seem fine with having a dictator in lieu of a president. And are sanguine about bridges falling on them or children going hungry. But most of us US are seeking government officials who will find public policy solutions and focus on everyone, not just wealthy donors.
That being said: Vice President Harris is somewhat of an enigma. She has no clear signature policy goals. They (?) say she is left of President Biden. But he has been called a socialist. And far "too liberal" for this country. Histrionic ravings, of course, Biden is no radical leftist, or even a progressive, just see check out his border agenda.
What of Harris? In 2000 Harris famously asked her staff what her beliefs should be. And recently, she has retracted her support for a ban on fracking. When the last 4 days have been the hottest in recorded history, it's hard to see how further methane polluting fracking is a part of a climate sane policy.
Yes, Harris appears to be a capable opponent to take on Donald Trump. And the relief pouring in from Democrats, Independents and others who want children fed and bridges repaired, have also poured in money. Financial support from moms and suburban woman could allow her to divorce/remove/ignore wealthy donors who have their own selfish agendas. But the proof is in the pudding, so to speak.
Ms. Harris- you take on Trump. And then let us know what type of administration you would have if elected. Not slogans or lies. Tell us through your choice of your running mate. No one who is anti-labor. No supporters of genocide. Not someone who protects banks and not their customers. And later, please don't lard the cabinet with Wall Street folks.
This is the time to bring on someone to fight for us. Yes, the Vice President is too often a ceremonial role but look, here you are heading the ticket. Often their influence is heard and effective. Like Biden forcing former President Obama to accept and protect the LGBTQ community. Just to cite a few examples.
And recently the country has learned the choice of VP is very important. #DSOT is very high minded and mission focused. No furniture jokes here. #DSOT is focused on the issues and the people who fight for them. From activists to organizations as well as the few elected officials who truly represent their constituents. Governors Walz (MN), and Beshear (KY) are both excellent choices. Fierce and proud progressives who have created positive change in their states.
Currently Donald Trump is telling evangelical supporters that they only have to vote for him this year/ and never have to worry about it again. Take that as you will. In case of any ambiguity, there is Project 2025, which is so hated now that there is focus on the content, that Trump is backing away as fast as he can.
Democrats tend to run, or triangulate towards some mythic moderation, in response to to the horrors promised by conservatives, choosing to focus on the fear of losing, to the detriment of the country and often their own political prospects. Now is the time to propose a bold new vision, a stark contrast to reactionary right-wing policies, ready to take us beyond the policies of Trump, and those that led to Trump.
That visions starts with the pick for Vice Presidential running mate. Madame Vice President, select a partner who will work for us.
#DSOT looks like America.
