The Self-Immolating Empire

We’re more than 3 weeks into Trump and Netanyahu’s illegal and disastrous war of aggression, and the conflict is going even worse than we predicted. The administration was full of hubris from previous “successful” military attacks, ignored US intelligence and listening instead to Netanyahu and walked completely unprepared, without even real objectives, into a conflict they weren’t ready for. Rather than the quick decapitation and regime collapse, Trump foolishly expected, Iran’s government and military has survived and maintains the ability for a long-term conflict.

Now Trump has found himself in an increasingly unpopular war and spiraling escalation trap which he no longer has control over. Trump’s favorite tactic is to “TACO” when the markets are affected by his madman activity, however this time, the choice to end the war no longer rests in his hands. With the conflict expanding rapidly across the region, the predictable closing of the strait of Hormuz by the Iranians, and the targeting of civilian infrastructure by Israel, this war is well beyond the US’s ability to unilaterally control. Trump looks desperate and weak as he begs other countries to get him out of the bear trap he has stepped in.

This war has exposed that despite its disgustingly bloated defense budget; The United States is not prepared for a sustained conflict in modern warfare. The US military is designed as a high performance “sprint” vehicle, not for long-term conflict. As the war further strains the US military resources, Russian and Chinese leadership are both openly supporting Iran and studying the conflict closely, learning the capabilities and limitations of our military, and the pressure points in our economy.

Despite the massive death and destruction wreaked upon Iran, this is a quagmire in which neither the Iranians, nor their proxies, have an incentive to end this war quickly.  Instead, they want the war dragging on, costing American lives and treasure until a massive political and economic cost has been felt. The US’s obsession with fossil fuels and alienating of its allies has given Iran tons of economic leverage against us, while more nations pursuing renewable technology, like China, can better handle the oil shock. Currently this is not only a war that America is losing but a war that looks likely to end American hegemony as we know it.

And frankly good riddance to the American Empire! We have acted more recently as a rogue state reigning terror across the world while claiming to bring freedom. While we might not grieve the falling of the American Empire in general, this is a disastrous way to do it. This was an absolutely foolish war of choice. All this violence, death and chaos could have been entirely avoided. Instead, we are spending $2B+ a day to burn down the Middle East and our own economy in this unnecessary, illegal, totally unjustified and purposeless War. Other than perhaps to distract from the Epstein crimes.

The over $20 billion that we have spent at war is a clear reminder that “scarcity of resources” is an excuse made up by the elites to prevent the government from working on behalf of the people. We're spending $2 billion on a day on a war of choice American’s never wanted without a second’s thought, when we are told that we cannot have universal healthcare, free college, a higher minimum wage, a cleaner environment, subsidized housing, and on and on and on. The elites of both sides tell us these things are “too expensive” that they will destroy the economy, while they spend more to bomb literal oil fields and murder school children with our tax dollars.

This is absolutely unacceptable. The Epstein class cannot be allowed to destroy the world with our money! Instead, we must take the money that the military industrial complex and the Epstein-class has funneled consistently away from us and the rest of the world for decades and use our economic and political power to say “no more. We will not allow this world to be the plaything of psychopathic billionaires and oligarchs. who would rather live as ruler over a ruin than live as equals in a utopia.

So let us join together in growing solidarity each Tuesday as we demand accountability from our politicians, and from a system that has totally failed us! Investigations, impeachments and convictions of the architects of this war and the entire Epstein class is a good place to start! The world is being made anew before our eyes every day, we cannot allow the political and economic system that emerges out of this disaster our leaders walked us into to continue.

This war is far from over but we must instead use our power to build a new world, a better world, a more hopeful and just world with accountability and justice for all. We hope against hope our capricious leaders will seek peace, but in the meantime let us make sure that we can create a government of by and for the people, not a murderous Rogue State threatening the world. Join us, and don't shop on Tuesday.
