Most People Don’t Want a Wall

Updated: Jan 11, 2019

Mexico is not going to pay for it.

More Mexicans are leaving this country at the southern border than are entering.

Undocumented immigrants are arriving at the lowest levels since 1972.

There is no national emergency. And why is Donald Trump and Fox News stating there is one now and not for the 2 years that the Republicans controlled Congress- because many GOP elected officials know their constituents Don’t Want a Wall.

No matter who pays for it.

Undocumented immigrants pay billions of dollars each year into Social Security and Medicare- more than $15 billion in fact- without any expectation of receiving those benefits.

They pay billions in state and local taxes.

By the way, folks who own land along the southern border are overwhelming opposed to a wall. When George W. Bush started eminent domain proceedings for more fencing: that led to court fights. Some court cases initiated in 2004 are still be litigated.

It would be an ecological disaster.

It could affect more than 100 different endangered species.

Learn about the role that immigrants play in our economy and communities. They don’t take jobs from Americans and have a lower incidence of crime than those born in the United States.

Be informed.

Use critical thinking.

Demand that our voices be heard.
