Governmental Damage/We Fight Back

Please explain to me why institutions, media, fabled schools and universities, the GOP, most Democrats- Chuck and Hakeem deserve a special shout out here- the Supreme Court, Nobel Prize winners and more kowtow to Trump?  

And why/how did he get re-elected?  Did the criminal convictions, the validation of sexual assault, the looming trials for treason and taking classified documents, the seditious riot-did that counter his disastrous first term? 

New word: hybristophilia- a condition in which someone is attracted to people who commit crimes.

The price of eggs allegedly was a major issue in the last presidential campaign but there are skyrocketing costs on everything now, oh well. I guess that is not a problem if people are too scared to go to the grocery store. Even eating cats and dogs is too expensive.  /s 

Speaking of food...

A man who is in his 60's but looks like the crypt keeper and sounds like Satan himself is advising us to eat more meat and drink whole milk. Take that kale.  What's the matter fruits and vegetables- no bribe money? 

(Slight digression and side note.  #DSOT is unique in its easy and safe ask.  Try to shop locally six days each week and then don't make discretionary consumer purchases on Tuesday. Keep building aggregate consumer power.  Many supporters and people did try to find some comparison and what was offered: Meatless Mondays. Not a perfect example but Don't Shop on Tuesday is not a strike nor a boycott...It isn't focused on one target or strategy or geography . And it might take a while. For Meatless Mondays, the goal is getting people to eat less meat. To learn more about nutrition. The benefits are manifold including improved health. More sustainable and less expensive food sources. Better for the environment.  Less cattle would have to be raised and slaughtered.  It was a long range strategy to reeducate people and alter dietary habits.) 

By the way, millions of children had their school lunches taken away.  1 in 5 are hungry or food insecure.  Just feed them.  Now to pick through more horror like I have ADHD.  

The goal seems to be to overwhelm the majority of the country with murder/mayhem/corruption/insanity/illegal and unconstitutional acts. The fog of war on our democracy. So pick an issue.  Find your fight. Here are a few suggestions:

When is pedophilia, actual child sex trafficking not a top legal priority and how did a convicted child abuser get transferred from maximum security to club fed? OK that was a rhetorical question but the fact remains there is very little outrage.  And connect the dots... what prompted this... Where are 99% of the Epstein files?   Protect children.

Books.  Texas A&E just banned Plato.  Diverse voices are being silenced. Moms for Liberty may have been sidelined by credible rape allegations but censorship is everywhere, and free speech is under attack.

We are illegally invading countries and committing war crimes.  Not only did the Department of Defense- yeah not changing- commit another war crime by illegally attacking, then bombing survivors clinging to their boat but also perfidy. That entails using a plane not designated for war was utilized Identifying military planes makes other civilian and commercial aircraft safer when people don't assume it is Hegseth killing fishermen. 

Stay out of Greenland.  Seriously, who told trump about this country?  Does he think green means actual money? He is certainly not interested in salad greens. Invading this self-governing Danish territory  that is no threat to the US could also destroy NATO.  Or as Stephen Miller might say: a twofer.  Hats for sale there: Make America Go Away. 

Oh wait the president of our country wrote a letter to Norway saying in effect he will take Greenland because he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize.  Apparently demanding it from the actual winner isn't e nough.  And stop harming our educational system.  Norway and Denmark are two different countries. 

Then there is the out of control ICE agency.  It is becoming one of the largest police forces in the world in conjunction with existing US law enforcement and the military. People are "trained" for 47 days and there appears to be no vetting of applicants.

It was never about undocumented immigrants who committed crimes. Kristy Noem, puppy killer and All Hat/No Cattle is telling everyone to have their ID ready.  ICE has flooded into Minnesota. Not red border states but the focus is on a blue city in a blue state.  With a progressive governor the GOP was happy to dismantle since they recognized his power and appeal even if the Democrats did not.  btw ICE is harassing Native Americans. Irony died a long time ago.

There is so much more. I could carry on for pages yet, but I must pause so we can focus on: Strategies.

Go small and protect your neighbors, libraries and schools.  Use your cellphone to keep a record of what is happening, livestream it if you can. Carry a whistle to alert your neighbors of what’s going on.

Vote- know the issues and be the boring one at parties.  Did you know that this administration is... It is the job of Congress...etc.

Keep remonstrating your elected officials or in the very rare cases, praising them.  Contact their offices regularly and demonstrate you are quite intelligent and aware of the political climate.

Befriend a child or protect animals.  Donate coats and food. Set up a Little Free Library.  There are similar kits for pet supplies, non-perishable food and other items. Bring books/ socks/ toys and more to homeless shelters and schools in under served areas.  You know what people and children need.

Find other causes and offer time and/or money.  Make calls or canvass for candidates and ballot issues that support our country and democracy. Find a park, a family, a neighborhood that needs support, and dive in.  Bring others with you and make a difference. En route to anywhere/ pick up the trash and litter.  

Join the Target boycott.  Don't buy a Tesla.  Find out about protests happening in your city.  People are demanding change.

And then, safely and elegantly- join the growing number of folks who Don't Shop on Tuesday. Wield that economic power.
