Enough! A Very Partial To-Do List

It is time to fight back.  Not, “an eye for an eye,” or “the ends justifies the means,” but we must mount resistance. 

Trump is illegally building a ballroom.  Illegal here means that a judge in a court of law has blocked it. Clearly Congress has crawled away from insisting that they control governmental spending, and this monstrosity is certainly not a “national emergency.” Several states need to send local or state police to arrest the contractors.  Carefully.  No one gets shot. And certainly not in front of their child. But all workers on the site are removed, released and construction is halted.

While we’re at it, states need to take over the investigation and prosecution of ICE murders and the multitude of crimes happening in the detention camps. OK- we start with the blue states.  Arrest those who have killed anyone. Take away their uniforms and weapons.  Put them in jail until each of their trials.

Or here's a fun one: Andy Beshear, Governor of Kentucky, go visit Mitch McConnell in the hospital. Then, if you are blocked or his bed is empty, call a special election. Or better yet, appoint Charles Booker, the Democrat running for the seat, to serve out his term.  The constitution forbids any appointments to fill vacancies only in the House of Representatives so, take the initiative.  Have the KY AG scour all the laws and loopholes.  Don't forget how McConnell had two different criteria for confirming an SC justice.  

California- investigate Bruce Taylor of Taylor Farms.  Not only are there an overwhelming number of cases of cyclosporiasis that have been linked to his lettuce, he is breaking laws.  Maybe not considered illegal by MAGA but yes illegal as well as clearly inhumane and reckless.   A major republican donor, Taylor has avoided many inspections of his crops.  And the corporation forbids workers to take bathroom breaks. If someone slipped this parasite into another's person's drink- they would be arrested and tried.  So doing this on a grand scale should not generate amnesty.  And if he pays to be pardoned.  Arrest him again.  There are certainly enough crimes there.

Side note, if businesses are polluting and/exploiting workers near you- take action.  Be it a boycott or posting online. Be safe but grow a coalition. Let's strategize.  Currently certain entities, this President, the Supreme Court, and others seem out of reach. Even though, for the 200th time, they in theory work for the American people.  Let's plan for a time to rejigger democracy and have safeguards in place to prevent such widespread abuse in the future.  

Granted, this will only be relevant to half the country, but any governor with a conscience, understands voting laws or has a shred of decency- tell Trump/Miller et. al that ICE will be arrested at polling locations.  Remind MW Mullin who promises to bring down hell on voter fraud- good luck finding it- that 15 courts have told Trump in no uncertain terms that the states oversee their elections even for national office. 

Media- do your job.  Occasionally.  On alternate days, Kudos for all the outlets that refused to carry Trump's ravings last Thursday.  It was patently self-preservation.  Everyone remembers the 787.5 million dollar settlement Dominion received from Fox (hey who said we were news) over the false claims of election fraud.  Again, money is a powerful motivator. 

Ok President Obama, you need to sue Trump.  For slander.  Or did you have burn bags 4 years after you left office to destroy evidence?  You weren't as progressive and forceful as you could have been as president. Go down in history as standing up to unprecedented corruption and lawlessness.

Um, leaders in Europe, stop gossiping and laughing amongst yourselves and start overtly embarrassing Trump.  How hard could it be? Here's a thought- anonymous videos posted showing the president doing any number of things.  It won't be difficult to choose humiliating vignettes.

We need some pro bono legal representation.  A group protesting an ICE detention center has been given very harsh sentences. Some of them just handed out fliers.  No one was hurt and this was not terrorism.

Of course: vote.  There is an incredible voter enrollment action taking place in the South.  Join them, donate or just make certain that you cannot be stopped in November from filling out a ballot. Monitor polling places.  If the local police are focused on true justice, call them if there is intimidation or violence. Record with your phone and alert the local media.  If these outlets spew propaganda, consider contacting on the ground news groups like Status Coup.  Even anticipatory warnings.  You know what will happen in your neighborhood.

The outrage of a toddler being shot and killed at Walmart generated massive outrage and protest. That store was boycotted and shuttered.  Why not a nationwide boycott?  The one aimed at Target was very successful. Too much so and it was hijacked and then derailed by one person.

Educate friends and neighbors.  Did you know the moral and financial cost of the war we are losing to Iran? Guess why there is an explosion of cases of diarrhea- sorry for the pun- and a resurgence of measles. This administration has both deliberately and unintentionally harmed this country and the planet every single day.

Ask questions:. How much more are you paying for gas/groceries or have you tried buying a new or used car lately? Do you still have healthcare and how has it been diminished? 

People might avoid you a little at parties, but these conversations are vital.

Of course augment everything- even other economic protests with #DSOT. 

 Circling back to corporations, they understand money lost.  Shop locally six days a week. Seek out small, neighborhood and unrepresented businesses.  Union shops.  And then don't make any discretionary purchases on Tuesday.
