Her daughter allegedly was murdered by an undocumented immigrant in Iowa.


She now raises her son and his friend, a child of undocumented parents who fled the town

after the arrest. They had nothing to do with the crime but were fearful of the community reaction.

The young man wanted to stay and finish high school in the only home he knew.


We must live with purpose and kindness. And fight for what is right.
