No One Is Safe

Katie Miller, the woman who inexplicably married Stephen Miller, now has a podcast.  As most people do. There are no links.  

She is a busy mom of three, who has to squeeze in yoga and demanding to speak to the manager while raising her three children.  Her husband, a proud nazi who is influencing too much policy for this administration, is hellbent on destroying everything this country stands for. 

In true, brave free-speech warrior action she turns off the comments section to her videos. Perhaps she’s scared to hear what others have to say, but I actually have a few questions.

What happens to a mother whose citizen husband is arrested and sent to a foreign torture prison because his skin is darker than ecru paint chips?

Or the matriarch whose sister is arrested and disappeared after updating her green card?

Or the woman whose children have been torn away from her as she navigates dealing with a masked, illegal and violent police force?  

Countless numbers of people have been arrested, disappeared or sent to a foreign country. I say countless, because the administration cannot offer any reliable statistics of just who they’ve disappeared. Analysis shows that a majority of those taken by ICE have no criminal record. And to reiterate, legally, someone is deported after a trial and conviction, then sent to the country of origin. Not modern-day concentration camps and torture chambers that offer no hope nor release. 

We know through family and friends as well as visual evidence, that lawful, hardworking people are being swept away including innocents, citizens, children and people integral to this country. Law enforcement should have goals not quotas.  To demand a certain number of arrests or provide bonuses for such undermines effective enforcement.

Not that this isn't horror enough but remember the rules can change at any time.  What will be the new criteria? What group will constitute the next wave of arrests for failed actors needing a paycheck. Jews? Muslims? People facing financial, emotional or physical challenges?  LGBTQ?  One can guess but there is no mercy or reason in this inhumanity. We do know that whoever the administration come for next they won’t be the last.  And for those of you who still feel secure in your place here, Trump has sent troops to American cities. First Los Angeles and now Washington D.C. With threats to expand.  Hello Boise or Baltimore.  There is no science or methodology or even legality.  Just- cruel chaos every day.

ENOUGH

We need to fight back. Podcasts are useful to function as constant propaganda or insight into issues and policy. What conservatives have learned is to have a never ending stream of identical. talking points coming from everywhere. Don't place ads just around an election. Maintain the conversation.  Show and tell.  Focus on the issues and don't be diverted by hate, lies and jeans ads. Or drive the point home with stark billboards.

Of course the GOP would love to have mega stars endorsing their candidates.  But hanging with Bruce and Beyonce was not effective for Democrats in 2016 or 2024. Campaign like you want to win and listen to the voters.  For the millionth time, support wholeheartedly policies that people desperately want and need.

Do something.  Stop talking in chambers and strategize.  One example.  Texas wants to illegally eliminate some Democratic legislative seats. Here comes NY and California offering payback. Don't rely on the courts, fancy speeches and deep sighs. Find ways to countermand, annul or paralyze the illegal and dishonorable tactics of the GOP. And when needed, the Democrats as well.
