Do the Majority of Citizens Have Any Power?

Updated: Jan 29, 2019

After the longest government shutdown in our history, 63% of Americans believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

This action cost the nation at least 6 billion dollars. Billion with a 'b".

Correction: The non partisan Congressional Budget Office now estimates

that the shutdown cost $11 billion.

The effect on millions of people has been appalling and not necessary. Since the same bill passed 35 days later, opening the government as it did by unanimous voice vote the previous month.

800,000 federal workers were not paid during that time. They have families and financial obligations.

Plus untold numbers of contractors also lost their income and will not get retroactive monies.
